We are interested in vocal communication in birds, especially the vocal imitation behavior of budgerigars (Melopsittacus undulatus). Adult budgerigars imitate the calls of their flock mates and the calls of their mate. Pet budgerigars are also known to imitate their owners' speech sounds.

   We aim to comprehensively understand the vocal behavior of birds, including its relationship with the brain, DNA, and hormones, with a view to contributing to the understanding of humans.
